Joseph “Jay” Hartnett,
Doctor of Physical Therapy
Jay is passionate about optimizing health & function. He believes in looking at the big picture & identifying the root cause of a problem, rather than just treating the symptoms.
He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Delaware in Exercise Science. His senior year, he took his education abroad for a semester in China to study Traditional Chinese Medicine, Martial Arts & Meditation. His time in China helped solidify his whole body approach to healing & wellness.
In 2009, Jay earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the top-ranked University of Delaware. Shortly after, he achieved his Orthopedic Clinical Specialist Certification through the American Physical Therapy Association.
In 2018, he achieved the prestigious Certificate of Functional Manual Therapy (CFMT) through the Institute of Physical Art. CFMT is one of the most rigorous Orthopedic Manual Therapy certifications in the Physical Therapy profession.
Jay has always been active, & has experienced quite a few injuries. He understands the frustrations of suffering with pain & missing out on the activities you enjoy. He has sought out many great therapists & coaches over the years. He loves learning about different healing philosophies & exercise programs. He incorporates many of the effective treatment strategies that have helped him with his clients.
Helping people overcome obstacles & achieve their goals is Jay’s purpose. He opened Hartnett PT to provided highly personalized hands-on care. In a one-on-one setting, his focus is about understanding your challenges & working with you to overcome your pain & optimize your movement & functional potential.
In addition to spending time with his family & friends, Jay loves running, exercise and being outdoors.
